NCSY91M Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs Summer Camp

Students during the Nuts,Bolts & Thingamajigs camps will be exposed to and utilize the latest in automated manufacturing and CNC equipment. This will include 3D printing, Laser Engraving/Cutting, CNC machining, and more. Students will learn about essential workplace skills and the latest in Industry 4.0. Projects that include earrings, bow ties, tea lights, and more. Students will take home projects that both have a practical and fun side. They will be able to follow the engineering design process and use current 3d modeling software to create these products. 

Sample of schedule:

Day 1: Lab overview, safety, workplace skills, and solid modeling. There will be short break-out activities with build labs students can test and evaluate utilizing the engineering design process. Prior to lunch one of our local manufacturers will be in to present about their company and what they make. 

Day 2: An overview of Day 1, 3D printing lab, utilizing STL files, and exposure to g-code. We will cover the history of and apply solid modeling techniques to a project. Prior to lunch students will engage in a brown bag lunch series with one of our local sponsors. Build labs will be integrated into breakout rooms. 

Day 3: Two company tour and overview 

Day 4: Laser cutting lab and solid modeling.  Prior to lunch students will engage in a brown bag lunch series with one of our local sponsors. Build labs will be integrated into breakout rooms. 

 Day 5: CNC and manual machining practice. Prior to lunch students will engage in a brown bag lunch series with one of our local sponsors. Build labs will be integrated into breakout rooms.

NCSY86M STEM Camp

Have you ever wondered what makes a drone fly, or how to build a battle bot? These questions and more are answered in the -Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) camp- Students will learn about and experience 21st-century skills in STEM.

This is done through hands-on learning and projects that can include building bridges, flying drones, programming robots, driving robots, running state of the art manufacturing equipment.

Campers leave with a sense of accomplishment and learning about a STEM career. Engineers and Scientists from our local partners are brought in each day to talk with students about career planning. This can have a powerful message for students. 

Sample of schedule:

Day 1: Lab overview, safety, bridge building. There will be short break-out activities with build labs students can test and evaluate utilizing the engineering design process. 

Day 2: An overview of towers and structures. We will cover the history of architecture and bridges.

Day 3: Will consist of electronics safety and circuit design. 

Day 4: A science based lab and math activities. 

 

NCSY85M Robotics Camp

Students during the Robotics Camp will be exposed to and utilize a variety of robotics-based learning. This included drone flying, Edison Robots, Little Bits, Makey Makey, and VEX IQ robotics.  This camp focuses on team development and building, pseudo-codes, chassis design, manipulators, sensors, and programming.

Day 1: Lab overview, safety, and robot challenges

Day 2: Will consist of a robotics lab with the chassis design

Day 3: Will be a continuation of the robot build and testing 

Day 4: Sampling of robotic activities and presentations from iRobot
